Once upon a time, there was a trickster god that happened to be a blogger. With your luck, that trickster god happened to be Freak Geek (who, if you are just tuning in, is convinced she is Loki), and that “once upon a time”? Yeah, um, that’s like… now. Anyway, it was the middle of August, and no game was afoot; the pantheon of bloggers that presides over 3 Chic Geeks was bored. So, the Trickster God Freak Geek said, “Hey, remember how we had a Ship War back in March? Let’s have another war now, for fandoms. It’ll be fun. It’ll be bloody.” And so… here it is.
So, here’s what’s happening. We’ve got the 32 fandoms, and we’re pitting them against each other in a bitter battle of voting online by fans. You (the readers) will vote on your favorites, and help us determine which fandom deserves the crown as the Top Dog of the Fandom War. We selected our fandoms very scientifically for this venture; by scientifically, we mean we scrolled down our Tumblr dashes and picked out the 32 fandoms we saw first. Then, we paired them by type, genre and/or most cheesy puns we could get out of the matchup titles. Very scientific and serious stuff here, folks! A full hour was dedicated to composing cannibal jokes that are inappropriate for public conversation. And, finally, it’s here – the Fandom Deathmatch will begin shortly…
Before we open up the voting, though, we thought you’d want to know a bit about the fandoms we’ve chosen for this deathmatch thing adventure, and whom they’re up against. Read on for short blurbs regarding each fandom, download the fandom war brackets and breathe deeply! May fortune be ever in your (fandom’s) favor!
We are aware not all of the “current” fandoms made it; unfortunately, just 32 of them was a lot of work. We will apologize in advance if you feel your fandom did not receive an adequately sassy blurb; writing blurbs for 32 fandoms in 24 hours and only knowing about 2/3 of them does not result in good blurbs. (Always ask people for help and plan ahead, kids! And don’t have sex standing up!)
