I assume that you, dear reader, are a responsible adult who definitely never impulse buys things with superheroes on them with no clear plan as to how you will use said Tony Stark covered impulse buy. Dear reader, you surely never wander into a Michaels with a clear plan of action and set list of necessary items only to find yourself drawn to a rack of Avengers themed something. I can only hope that you never find yourself eagerly grabbing said something and saying aloud, “No, but I need this.” while throwing it into your cart only to watch your purchase sit in a junk drawer for years.

Oh, you do this too? That’s good, I have a solution for you based on my most recent impulse buy totally adult decision.

Your purchase has not been in vain, you can cover everything you own in this stuff.

To Make Duct Tape Fabric:

For small pieces (cutting out individual pictures for hair clips, pins, earrings, etc…) simply fold in half as neatly as possible and push out any air bubbles that form. The easiest thing to do is press the tape onto itself from the bottom up.

If you want to go crazy with it and make a wallet or prom dress (someone please, PLEASE) follow the directions for making larger pieces of duct tape fabricĀ here.

With the aid of some scissors and a hot glue gun you can put tiny Avengers all over yourself.

To cover flat surfaces with curved edges:

For things like sunglasses or a headband, take a piece of tape that is slightly longer than the surface being covered and stick the tape down roughly in the middle of the surface. Trim any excessive overhang (overhang that is longer than the surface is wide) and then cut the remaining overhang into tiny strips about 1/4″ wide (basically making fringe). Fold the fringe over one piece at time to ensure the edge is followed closely.

It’s a really great way to spice up cheap purchases, my sunglasses were $2.00 and are now cooler than everyone else’s.

So go, impulse buy! Tell us in the comments if you’ve seen the tape, we hope you have a valid excuse to go buy it now.

  1. This post was not sponsored by Marvel. We just saw some at Michaels and then it somehow ended up in the cart and we didn’t question it.

  2. I’ve been eyeing that duck tape for a while now. I may have found my excuse, after all how can I live without such awesome sunglasses ;)

  3. Okay, I’ve just been looking for an excuse to purchase that duct tape every since the last post where it was featured as a Father’s Day gift. :) Thanks for giving me a logical excuse!!

  4. Great choice for the sunglasses color.
